FAQ

Why has my salve turned grainy and gritty?

The all-natural, skin nourishing butters and oils used to produce our handcrafted salve are very temperature sensitive and naturally separate, clump together and “crystallize” when subject to variations in temperature that occurs during shipping, travel or other changes in the environment. When the salve warms and gets soft, then cools again, the natural fatty acids stick together to create a grainy, gritty texture.

Although inconvenient, it is completely normal and does not mean that your salve has spoiled or gone bad.  It simply needs to be “reset” by warming to a liquid and quickly cooled in the fridge or freezer.
